Financial Privacy Policy Dear Valued Client, In recent years, there has been a gradual change in the regulations relating to banks, investment and insurance companies and the types of businesses in which each could become involved. In 1999, a major law was passed by Congress called the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act. A component of this Act is the Privacy Provision which legislates the sharing of non-public information among affiliated and nonaffiliated companies. Spectrum understands the sensitivity of the information we gather and the importance of its confidentiality. To do our job properly and thoroughly, we must gather information that can be considered very personal. Spectrum collects nonpublic personal information from the various forms and applications required to purchase financial products and services. To help the government fight terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify and record information that identifies each person on an account. To verify this information, we may need to see your drivers license or other identifying documents. The information required by law includes personal information such as your name, address, telephone numbers, social security numbers and birth dates. Furthermore, the Securities & Exchange Commission requires that we collect additional financial information such as income, net worth, assets, liabilities and investments. Depending upon the nature of the financial product or service, for example, life and health insurance, Spectrum may also collect personal information such as health records, life insurance policies, medical records or information about an illness, disability or injury. Spectrum does not disclose any nonpublic personal information about our customers or former customers to anyone except as permitted or required by law. Spectrum discloses nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties. This may include mutual fund companies, insurance companies, trust companies and other related entities and is strictly for the purpose of processing or servicing your financial product or service.
